Premature infants that receive 15 minutes massage 3x/wk gain weight 47% faster, have better motor skills and can be released from the hospital 6 days sooner than preemies left untouched in their incubators[USA Weekend Feb 6-8, 1998].

Healing touch can lift depression, bolster immune function, reduce job stress. We instinctively touch those in need of care. A player puts their arm around their teammate after a goal or a parent instinctively holds, blows on or kisses their child’s injured knee.

Massage studies suggest that therapeutic touch can do a lot….re-establish correct nerve flow in damaged, fatigued or injured areas, return muscle fibers to their normal resting length for recovery, eliminate adhesions, improve range of motion (joint function), increase lymph circulation (our immune defense), promote deeper breathing, aid digestion, decrease edema, decrease anxiety, aid insomnia, decrease migraine frequency & duration, decrease fibromyalgia pain and lessen arthritis pain.

But life and our bodies don’t fit neatly into clinical studies…they can, however, fit neatly into the hands of an informed, educated and skilled therapist with deeply healing intent.

WELCOME to my website and I look forward to meeting you, holding you, sharing your story, hearing about your pain, nurturing you and helping you feel your best.

ABK can provide receipts necessary for FSA submission.

At this point in time, massage therapy is considered a feature and not a benefit by the healthcare system. ABK does not directly bill insurance. We can give you a receipt for your treatments that you can then submit to your insurance company (third party billing). Every plan is different and each time a client submits for massage therapy reimbursement, the healthcare industry is reminded of the therapeutic benefits of massage as a medical necessity.

Stress, diet and sleep habits factor into how the body responds to/handles pain. Massage works on many levels to lessen/eliminate pain. The body of research on massage and X (X = pain, nausea, anxiety, fatigue, depression, cancer, migraines, autism spectrum disorders, stroke recovery, cortisol levels, etc.) is still small for some conditions or symptoms and bigger for others. Overall, as massage therapy becomes more in demand and non controlled studies help fund controlled studies and more grants are issued etc., this body of research is growing albeit slowly.

When we’re stressed psychologically or physically, our body will directly manifest the stress – tightness or pain in the musculature or joints, mental confusion, anxiety, fatigue, irritability, release of certain hormones (such as adrenalin or cortisol), increase in heart rate and/or blood pressure. From the available data the strongest support is for the view that massage induces relaxation response and enhances mood — which can decrease anxiety and depression, lessen frequency and duration of migraines and so on. Many extrapolations can be drawn and even if studies are growing slowly, the pleasure and healing one can receive from a well informed massage can’t be quantified but is usually always verbalized.

Massage has a normalizing effect on the central nervous system immediately soothing the mind and body. You can’t help it. Your body’s functions will immediately slow down and calm when it receives directed, therapeutic touch.

It’s little wonder that massage has been used as a healing modality for over 3500 years.

Please note that many of these have been abbreviated.

“I decided to try massage therapy when I injured my back a few years ago. After about a month of massage therapy with Nina, my pain had decreased dramatically. Almost 3 years have passed, and I’m still receiving massage therapy weekly as a preventative measure and stress reliever. Nina is a very skilled and caring therapist. I’m very fortunate to receive her care.”
– Ted C. Shrewsbury, MA

“Certain skills can really become ‘an art form’. I truly feel that Nina has through her dedication, her natural ability and her quest for excellence has achieved ‘the art form level’ of therapeutic massage, Reiki and craniosacral therapy. It is so wonderful to have the good fortune to be able to be a client of such a caring and highly skilled healing practitioner. Nina’s healing efforts with me have greatly enhanced my life and my physical health. “
– Kate W. Southborough, MA

“Nina has brought me to deep levels of peace and has released many layers of tension.”
– Beth A. Grafton, MA

“Nina is not only a gifted massage therapist but she is also an intuitive and caring person. She asks me before each session how I’m feeling and where it hurts, then focuses on relieving that pain or discomfort. I carry this sense of wellbeing with me throughout the day and feel more mindful of daily stresses.”
– Allison P. North Grafton, MA

“When I first came to Nina, I needed help with my right hip. A friend referred me to her. I’m a senior citizen and have been in and out of doctor’s offices. She made me feel at home and comfortable and eased any apprehension – “Was she going to hurt me further? Is she a kook?” She took away the pain in my right hip, provided ideas for home care that I can do myself. I have been coming to her for 3 years now and have subsequently referred 2 of my friends to her. She is a blessing.”
– Betty B. Shrewsbury, MA

“I’m active, older male who has seen many massage therapists over the years. I used to run but now my knees bother me. I rely on Nina to keep me on a preventative schedule. My massages aren’t a treat (as my wife used to think) but part of my health regiment. Now my wife also comes to see Nina too.”
– Mike D. Worcester, MA

“Nina is amazing. I’ve seen many massage therapists over the years through my work travels and she ranks at the top. She brings a competence and skill to her work that is difficult to come by – it’s not easy finding a really good therapist. She doesn’t take herself too seriously but you can tell she enjoys her work and takes that seriously. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, skilled and problem solving oriented therapist.”
